Valentine's Day Roses
VALENTINE’S DAY ROSES……….TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY!
Roses, though one of the most beautiful flowers, are very pricy during the Valentine season. Owner/florist, Jenna Lloyd of O’Malley Florist shares some tips to help you be “romantic” but still keep something in your wallet.
While red roses are popular, many women prefer other flowers. Find out what her favorite flower is. From Gerbera Daisies, Dendrobium Orchids to Oriental Lilies there is a wide variety that is readily available with a little pre-planning. So play that private detective or come right out and ask her what her favorite bloom is – then contact your local florist and pre-order to ensure you will have them in hand on Valentine’s Day.
If you prefer to keep it a surprise, find out the meaning of certain blooms that you have in mind. The” Language of Flowers” was developed during the highly conservative period of the Victorian era. Victorians were strongly restricted by the rules of etiquette but using the “Language of Flowers” the lover could send flowers that conveyed a hidden message. If you are not quite ready to use the “L” word but would like to convey admiration and cheerfulness, present her with a bouquet of gerbera daisies. Orchids convey the message of refined beauty. There are also many blooms beside red roses that convey love: red chrysanthemum - I love you, white Daisy – loyal love, Gardenia – secret love, red Tulip – declaration of love, yellow Tulip – hopeless love.
Investing time and thought into this year’s Valentine’s bouquet could truly pay off . Not only will your sweetheart be impressed with receiving an “ out of the ordinary” floral bouquet but you will save some cash, too.
