Preparing for the "Big Day"
Preparing for the “Big Day”…….
Advice from Skin Savvy
One thing many brides (and people in general) tend to neglect is their overall skin health and appearance. Achieving this for your skin takes time which is why it is important to think about it early in the process of planning your wedding. Your first step should be to make an appointment with a qualified and licensed esthetician for a consult. Your esthetician will be able to recommend a daily routine using high quality skin care products specific for your skin type will start you on your way to healthy, clear skin minus the blemishes and fine lines. A daily routine should always include a sunscreen with a minimum SPF 15 and wear it everyday. Just because it's cold and cloudy doesn't mean your not getting damage from the sun. It only takes a little UV exposure each day to cause freckling and wrinkles that will last a lifetime. It may be neccessary to include salon treatments to reach your goal. These treatments may be as simple as a monthly basic facial or something a little more aggressive like mild chemical peels or micro-dermabrasion. In salon treatments and quality home products can treat a variety of skin issues from acne, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, rosacea and hyperpigmentation (sunspots). For those of you with deeper lines and wrinkles you may find that Botox or facial fillers are for you. Botox and facial fillers can be provided by a registered nurse.
I like for my clients to think of their esthetician as a personal trainer for their skin, and your daily skin care routine is the proper diet and maintenance for your skin in between professional visits. Just a few minutes a day at home and 1-2 hours a month in the salon can transform your skin from damaged and blemished to beautiful and healthy. Keep up with your routine and have beautiful skin for a lifetime. Now your makeup artist won't have to cover up anything. She'll only have to enhance your natural beauty and let it shine through.
